Robert Petersen was born in Fort Bragg in 1934. After attending college at San Francisco State and Hastings Law School, he returned to Fort Bragg and opened his practice in 1960. He has been continually in practice, primarily as a litigator, from that date to the present. He was joined by his nephew, F. Gregory Petersen, the son of Judge Frank S. Petersen in 1978, concentrating primarily on family law and criminal defense. Thomas E. Owen joined the firm in 1984. His practice concentrates on legal research, pleadings, briefs and appeals. Petersen Law Offices opened an office in Ukiah in 1993, at which time they were joined by Robert’s son, Erik R. Petersen. Erik is certified by the State Bar as a Workers Compensation Specialist. His practice includes workers compensation and personal injury. The firm has had extensive experience in real estate and contract litigation as well as personal injury.
